THE 44th anniversary of martial law in Poland

For a 1000 years Christmas has been celebrated in Poland, a country of deep Christian tradition. But these holidays do not bring much joy to the brave Polish nation. Poles were betrayed by their own government. The authorities and their allies are afraid of the freedom that Poles have enjoyed so much. The free movement was struck by force, shooting miners and arrests. The August agreements signed in Gdańsk in 1980 were besides broken. The repression is expected to choke Solidarity, but the full nation is actually choking. In an effort to taint Solidarity, the authorities declared war on their own nation. How will they explain the usage of force to subdue the full nation?

Written by Ronald Reagan

“Polish blood was watering the light of freedom so that we could live in the free, independent Republic of Poland,” said the President.
He pointed out that "the state of war was no little evil; it was evil in a purer form; betrayal of the Polish people by the communist junta".
Karol Nawrocki besides recalled the words of Pope John Paul II from 1979: Let your Spirit descend! Let your Spirit descend! And he will renew the face of the earth. This Earth! – The Holy Spirit descended due to the fact that there was large Solidarity – the first independent trade union in the russian bloc, a large social movement from which we are all so proud, which brought together nearly 10 million people – he said. He pointed out that they were different people – on the 1 hand they were clear anti-communists, and on the another hand those who, thanks to Solidarity, had a large chance to stand on the side of decency.

13 December is the 44th anniversary of Jaruzelski and WRON's introduction of martial law throughout the country. It was 1 of the most hard events in post-war past of Poland. Its aim was to weaken the activities of the democratic opposition, in peculiar the Independent Local Professional Union "Solidarity". In this way the hopes of millions of Poles were broken and for many years the chance for democratic change was postponed. The martial law has brought suffering to thousands of people and their families – isolation in internment centres, imprisonment, occupation deprivation. Tens of innocents lost their lives. Many in Dzierżoniów have courageously opposed power.
Solidarity activists, bachelors of the Freedom and Solidarity Cross remember their experiences: Fr Stanisław Araschuk, Stefan Grefling, Kazimierz Janko, Zdzisław Mikulko, Andrzej Friday, Jerzy Szymczyk and Ireneusz Wagnerowski activist of the underground structure of NSZZ Solidarity ZR Diora.
God bless you.

“Holy John Paul II, our Advocate and Patron! You who so loved Poland and Poles, intercede for us with God. Give us the graces needed to live in fact and love. aid renew the face of our Homeland and lead us on the way of faith. Amen.’
