Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik were sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment and a five-year ban on public office on Wednesday (20.12.2023). The territory Court in Warsaw found them guilty in connection with operations during the alleged land scandal. The another erstwhile CBA bosses heard the conviction after a year in prison.
– The actions taken by the accused were not only unlawful... They were not actions to detect crimes, but to make this crime – this is justice Anna Bator-Ciesielska.
– The Court of First Instance has rightly observed in the actions of the defendants the breach of the powers of action to the detriment of the public and private interest, and the appeal court full accepts these views – noted justice Bator-Ciesielska. She added that “the behaviour of the defendants has been ‘far off’ with the standard of law enforcement activity in operational control and provocation. – The actions of the defendants described in the judgement were not only unlawful. They were not actions to detect crimes, but to make this crime. The justice pointed out.
In the judgement of the court, “the action of the defendants has made assurance in the state and has created a sense of danger for citizens, and in a democratic state it should be the exact opposite, that is, citizens should feel safe and the services should act in specified a way as not to undermine this security”.
A press conference with Kamiński and Wąsik was held after the verdict was announced in the parliament building. Kamiński stated that ‘this was not a trial’ and that there was no reason to put out parliamentary seats. Marshal Simon Holovnia has already spoken on this matter. He announced a decision about the expiration of Kaminski and Wąsik tickets.
Wprost.pl portal informs that Andrzej Duda invited Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik to the Presidential Palace, which in 2015 he unlawfully applied the law of grace to the then unofficially convicted. In June this year, the ultimate Court found the pardon ineffective.
