The President's law firm announced in a communication that president Andrzej Duda had deprived Jolanta Margaret Lange (primo voto Gontarczyk) of the Silver Cross of Merit. The Socialist was decorated in 1997 by president Alexander Kwasniewski.


The President's office issued an announcement Wednesday afternoon. As we read: "The president of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, by resolution of 29 July 2025, pursuant to Article 36(1) point 2 of the Act of 16 October 1992 on Orders and Awards, deprived Jolanta Margaret Lange (primo voto Gontarczyk) of the Silver Cross of Merit".

According to the regulations, the president of the Republic of Poland has the right to deprive a given individual of the award if "the decorated individual commits an act that makes him unworthy of the award or distinction".



President Duda has received the order of Jolancie Lange


Depriving Jolanta Lange, a.k.a. Gontarczyk, is the consequence of a petition late addressed to the President. The author is Piotr Woyciechowski, who indicated "the acts committed by the mentioned individual who made it unworthy of the state discrimination of the Polish Republic".
