Signatories request an immediate halt to arms sales and export licences to Israel, the immediate release of humanitarian organisations to the Gaza Strip and the active engagement of the British government in achieving a ceasefire.
Among the 300 well-known people who supported the appeal were Benedict Cumberbatch, Dua Lipa, Annie Lennox, Tilda Swinton, Steve Coogan, Caitriona Balfe, Danny Boyle, Jonathan Pryce, Alexi Lubomirski, Riz Ahmed, Brian Cox and Mark Ruffalo.
The letter was created on the initiative of Choose Love, which brings aid to refugees and people affected by humanitarian crises.
– We request action from the Prime Minister – now. This means immediately stopping arms sales and allowing legal humanitarian organisations to act in Gaza. You gotta do everything you can to end this nightmare. Action is simply a choice – as is idleness. past will remember what we did at this point. What is happening in Gaza?
