Strengthening the east flank

Defence Minister John Healey stressed that the extension of Britain's participation in the mission is intended to deter Vladimir Putin and prevent further provocations against NATO. He explained that these actions are part of a broader strategy to strengthen the Alliance's east flank.

In fresh months, the UK has donated over 85 000 drones to Ukraine produced in home plants and the full investment in modern military technologies is £600 million. The east defender mission, launched by NATO on 13 September, was initiated after an incidental with Russian drones that violated Polish airspace on the night of 9-10 September.

Healey first revealed that in 2025 London allocated £600 million to velocity up the supply of drones to Ukraine, including FPV models, which, as he pointed out, are essential for supporting the front line. The Communication stresses that these machines are utilized for precise strokes, designation and interference of Russian activities behind the front lines.

The Ministry besides reported that it would send British drone combat specialists to Moldova to train the armed forces there. The UK's full commitment to defending Ukraine in 2025 is £4.5 billion and includes supplies of logistics drones, one-way assault drones and reflection and reconnaissance machines.

Not just drones.

British support for Ukraine is not limited to supply of drones. The government in London plans to allocate £4.5 billion in 2025 to strengthen Ukrainian defence, covering both fighting and logistical, reflection and exploratory equipment. These investments are crucial for further supporting Ukraine's activities on the front.

As part of the United Kingdom and Latvia-led drone coalition, modern interception drones are being tested to counter threats from Iranian machines utilized by Russia. Ukraine is expected to receive crucial technological support in the coming months.

Minister John Healey's message was published just before the Ukrainian Defence Contact Group, organized on the initiative of London and Berlin. On the same day, talks were besides scheduled in Brussels between EU and NATO defence ministers.
