For the first time since 2004 In Poland there are changes in fees for mandatory method inspections of vehicles. Ministry of Infrastructure announced the introduction of a fresh price list and a mechanics for the yearly value of fees. Although the proposals are little extremist than they postulated the diagnoses, drivers gotta face increases.

Why are increases necessary?

The current method review rates apply from 20 years and are:

  • 98 zł for the maintenance of the passenger car,
  • PLN 162 for the vehicle inspection with LPG installation.

In 2004, erstwhile these rates were introduced, the minimum remuneration in Poland was PLN 824 gross. present it is. PLN 4666 grossand the cost of moving diagnostic stations has increased significantly. By Association of Communication Engineers and Engineers of Poland (SITT) current charges are inadequate to economical realities, making it hard to operate multiple diagnostic points.

New rates in 2025

The Ministry of Infrastructure proposed a average increase of 20%which means:

  • 118 zł for the maintenance of a passenger or truck vehicle up to 3,5 tonnes,
  • PLN 195 for the vehicle inspection with LPG installation.

Although diagnoses demanded higher rates – even 260 zł for review – the ministry decided to take a more cautious approach. In addition, a mechanics is planned for the yearly valuation of fees that will depend on inflation indicators.

Proposals for a diagnostic environment

Diagność, arguing for its demands, points to a immense disparity between the cost of operating and the gross from the reviews. As the portal notes Auto-swiat.pl, diagnostic stations must bear increasingly higher expenditure related to:

  • maintenance of modern equipment,
  • staff training,
  • technical requirements resulting from Union legislation.

Their proposals include raising the rates to a level that will let manufacture to develop, and a mechanics for valorisation dependent on minimum remuneration in the country.

What effects will change?

The introduction of higher review fees means a higher burden for drivers. On the another hand, better backing of diagnostic stations can improve the quality of their services. Ministry of Infrastructure emphasises that the aim of the changes is not only to adapt rates to economical realities, but besides to prevent stagnation in the future.

In practice, this means:

  • increased resources for the modernisation of diagnostic equipment,
  • better remuneration for diagnosticists,
  • faster and more efficient usage of vehicles.

When will the fresh regulations come into force?

The bill is to be included in the list of legislative work in the coming months. The circumstantial date of action has not yet been given, but it is possible that the fresh rates will already apply in the second half of 2025.

Valorisation of fees – end of multiannual stagnation

One of the key elements of the fresh government is the mechanics for valorising fees. This solution will update the review prices annually, depending on inflation. This is to prevent rates from remaining unchanged for decades, despite the expanding cost of diagnostic activity.

Diagność vs government – is this the end of the dispute?

Although the proposals of the Ministry of Infrastructure seem to be a compromise, the diagnostic community does not hide disappointment. Association of Communication Engineers and Engineers of Poland points out that without extremist changes, the diagnostic manufacture will proceed to face financial problems.

Will the increases prove sufficient? The answer to this question will only be known after the fresh rules have been put into effect and their impact in practice.
