This large anthology of patriotic poesy includes the widest selection of literary heritage of Poland: from fragments of the oldest chronicles of Gall Anonim and Wincenty Kadłubek and from the “Bogarodnica”, by the creators of the period of rebirth, Baroque and enlightenment, the omens of the romanticist era, the time of captivity and large national uprisings, poets of the days of positivism and Young Poland, to the pioneers of the large independency act, legionaries poets from 1914 to 1918, who fought for free Poland and awaited its rebirth.
Anthology evokes both works known and repeated by generations, as well as forgotten sometimes, and worthy of recalling the songs of “Polish soldiers” from past decades and centuries. On the pages of this unique book there are not only masters of this measurement as Kochanowski, Mickiewicz and Słowacki, but besides little celebrated authors of legion songs, anonymous creators of knightly poesy from the 17th or Confederate 18th century.
The selection included authors who grew inextricably with the tradition of patriotic poetry, whose works consist of catechism of love for Poland, and which should be known like a pacier.
