German Chancellor Olaf Scholz completes his mission in the German government. He visited Warsaw on Wednesday. "Chancellor Olaf Scholz concludes his mission with a gathering in Warsaw, and Chancellor Friedrich Merz will start office with visits to Warsaw and Paris. Poland is present a key partner for all the crucial forces in Europe. Like it or not," wrote Donald Tusk.
Olaf Scholz thanked the Polish Prime Minister for his welcome to the capital. “We have a friendship. Dear Donald, thank you so much for having a good organization in Warsaw," he wrote on X.
The programme of the farewell visit was limited to a minimum. Both politicians met at dinner. There is no press conference. The modest setting of the visit is simply a good illustration of the current state of Polish-German relations, and above all of the cool contacts between Tuski and Scholz.
— It is said that there is no chemistry between Tusk and Scholz, but there is something more – among others, a different way of communication, which may hinder knowing or origin irritation. Expressive and full of emotion in social media Tusk does not broadcast on the same line as the balanced and inexpensive in the communication of Scholz," said PAP Agnieszka Lada-Konefal, Deputy manager of the German Institute of Polish Affairs (DPI) in Darmstadt.
