Donald Tusk firmly stated that he would not rise his retirement age. However, according to an interior study prepared for the Prime Minister, the government must make all effort to keep seniors on the labour marketplace as long as possible.
"We will not rise the retirement age, the case is definitely closed. I returned to Polish politics not to change retirement age," said Donald Tusk in 2023. However, the head of the government plans to introduce another solutions which will consequence in the subsequent transition of Poles to pensions.
A peculiar study prepared by ZUS and the Ministry of Labour for the years 2022-2024 pointed out that Poles – if wellness permits it – are increasingly delaying the decision to retire. This attitude brings apparent benefits to the government and budget, but besides to the payer of retirement age. The later specified a individual disappears from the labour market, the higher he will receive in the future.
The increase in pensions is linked to a shorter period of entitlement, but in this case the capital is valued. The 60-year-old receives a statistically +3.7 percent for the future pension for each year; after 5 years it is already + 20.7 percent for the 65-year-old for each year he gets a statistically +4.1 percent for the year and +23.4 percent after five. The advantage is permanent, and with average earnings, the year of employment frequently means even more than a fewer 100 zł more “on hand” after the start.
As noted in the report, incentives to proceed the work of people who have reached the general retirement age have an effect, and the government should so proceed the "growth trend".
The study recommends that, alternatively of raising retirement age, more incentives for longer work be introduced. A good example of specified encouragement was the PIT-0 for the elder who introduced the Law and Justice.
