

President Panama refused to answer further questions after giving a speech at the planet economical Forum in Swiss Davos.
In his beginning speech, Trump expressed his claim to the Panama Canal on Monday, announcing its “receipt” and defining Panama's sovereignty as a “stupid gift”.
Trump did not say erstwhile and how he intends to take control of the channel over which the sovereign power is exercised by Panama, an ally of the United States. He had not previously ruled out the usage of military force, causing criticism of both friends and U.S. opponents in Latin America.
President Panama rejects Trump's accusations
The U.S. president has besides again accused Panama of breaking promises made before taking over the channel, downloading besides advanced a charge from US ships and allowing China to control it. The Panamanian government has firmly rejected these accusations.
In Davos Mulino, he reiterated that his government "in its entirety rejects all that Mr Trump said, firstly due to the fact that it is not actual and secondly due to the fact that the Panama Canal belongs and will belong to Panama." He stressed that the transfer of control of the channel "was not a concession nor a gift from the United States".
The Panama Canal, just over 80 km long, connects the Pacific with the Atlantic. A crossing completed in the second decade of the 20th century was built by most Americans, who later controlled the canal and surrounding areas for decades. In 1999, on the basis of a contract concluded 22 years earlier, the authority over the channel took over Panama.
