Poland is entering a fresh era of elder policy. In 2025, the government plans to introduce comprehensive changes to the pension system, which will importantly increase support for the elderly. Thanks to additional backing in the form of thirteenth and fourteenth pensions elder citizens can number on additional PLN 3769 per year. Minimum pension will increase in 2025

Who gets the most?

The improvement is most supportive of those with the lowest pensions. According to the data of the Ministry of household and Social Policy, in 2024 the minimum pension received about 265 000 people, and this number grows all year. The fresh support programme is only the beginning of changes in the pension system. The Ministry announces further actions to improve the quality of life of older people, including:

  • Introduction health vouchers for rehabilitation and medication.
  • The improvement of a strategy of elder homes and apartments adapted to the needs of the elderly.
  • Facilitate access to social and professional activation programmes for pensioners.
