The rising energy costs spend their sleep with the eyes of millions of Poles, and the possible of the next heating period raises legitimate concerns. Government support energy allowance, which can amount to up to PLN 1,700, is simply a real aid to many households. Sadly, the time for receiving this form of aid is coming to an end. The deadline for the submission of the essential papers is set. September 30, 2024. This is absolutely the last bell to safe additional funds to cover advanced bills. What precisely is an energy supplement and who can receive it?
Many people confuse energy supplement with another forms of support, specified as a protective supplement or an energy voucher. In order to apply for a refund, 2 basic conditions must be met. First, the main heating origin (e.g. a gas boiler) must be reported and entered into Central Building emanation Records (CEEB). It's a formality that had to be completed before, and now the deficiency of it can block access to money. The second equally crucial criterion is income criterion. Under the applicable rules, the income threshold is:
- PLN 2100 per period for a single-person holding,
- PLN 1500 per period per individual for a multi-person holding.
Overshooting these thresholds, even by a tiny amount, automatically disqualifies from the anticipation of receiving support. Therefore, it is so crucial to accurately convert the income of all household members before submitting an application.
How advanced can the surcharge be? Even PLN 1700 VAT refund

Maximum refund is limited by consumption limits, but for the average household it may be a crucial injection of cash, ranging from respective 100 to over 1 and a half 1000 zlotys. It's real money that can mostly compensate for increases in energy prices.
The deadline is 30 September. How do I apply step by step?
The most crucial information for all afraid is the deadline – Applications for an energy allowance may be submitted only until 30 September 2024. After that date, the anticipation of applying for a refund of VAT on gas will be lost. Time is moving out, so it's not worth putting off the formalities at the last minute. The process of making a request is not, fortunately, complicated, but requires preparation.
To apply correctly, follow the following steps:
- Download and complete application – the form is available on the websites of municipalities or cities, as well as on a permanent basis in the applicable departments (most frequently in the Municipal or Municipal Social Assistance Centres).
- Complete Attachments - the application must be clearly accompanied copy of the contract with the gas supplier, all VAT invoices documenting consumption in 2024 and proof of payment (e.g. confirmation of transfer).
- File papers at the office – a complete application together with the annexes must be submitted to the office of the municipality or the city competent for the place of residence. This can be done in person, sent by conventional message (the date of the post stamp counts) or electronically via the ePUAP platform.
Remember that the offices will verify data from CEEB and income statements, which is why it is crucial to supply actual and complete information.
Watch what? The most common errors that may cost money loss
Experience with erstwhile aid schemes shows that many applications are rejected due to simple formal errors. To avoid disappointment, it is worth paying attention to any of the most common traps. First of all, no entry in CEEB or an alert with incorrect data on the heating origin is automatic disqualification. Make certain your gas boiler is decently recorded.
Another common mistake is adding incomplete documentation. An application without a copy of all invoices paid or without proof of payment will be rejected or sent back to completion, which may consequence in a deadline being exceeded. Equally crucial is the correct calculation of the net income per household member. Over- or under-declaration of this amount may lead to a negative decision. Finally, it is absolutely crucial to keep an eye on the deadline. Applications submitted after September 30, 2024 will not be considered, regardless of the circumstances.
In conclusion, the energy allowance is simply a real chance to recover even PLN 1,700 for paid gas bills. However, there is very small time to act.
