What is Turkey preparing for? Ankara announces evidence advanced defence budget

In 2025 Ankara is expected to allocate **913.9 billion lyr ($26.6 billion) to defence spending and 694.5 billion lir (20.28 billion USD) to interior security**. After taking into account transfers to the Defence manufacture Support Fund (Savunma Sanayii Destekleme Fonu; SSDF), the full amount allocated to the defence and safety sector in 2025 will be around **1 trillion 608 billion lira (47 billion USD), which represents 10.9% of the full budget of the central government** (in 2024 this amount represented 10.2% of the full state budget). The Turkish defence and safety budget in 2024 was around US$40 billion, which means **17.5% increase in spending in 2025**
