Lieutenant-Colonel Jacek Goryszewski of the Operations Command of Armed Forces Types explained why the Polish Armed Forces did not shoot down a Russian rocket that violated Polish airspace. The ‘incident’ was besides referred to by the head of the MON Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish.
The rocket, according to MON, was launched by Russian aviation at night, entered Poland – the Operations Command of Armed Forces Types reported on Sunday morning.
The head of the National safety Bureau, Jacek Siewara, discussed the incidental with the Minister of Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish.

During the press conference, Lieutenant Colonel Jacek Goryszewski, spokesperson for the Operations Command, explained that the Russian rocket was moving at a velocity of almost 800 kilometres per hr and was at an altitude of 400 metres.
– She crossed that line, about 2 kilometers. Then she flew out of our territory – added.
– All the time in our space, of course, it was observed radio-locationally. We knew about her trajectory, about her direction. And we were expecting where he would leave our space and this happened— He was a military translator.
Goryszewski pointed out that in the situation of this peculiar rocket no decision was made or the authorisation was issued to shoot it down.
The Ombudsman explained that this decision was taken in view of the cognition of the trajectory of the Russian rocket flight by Polish armed forces.
– Besides, this rocket was in our space for a very short time and was not within scope of our military land-fired means. So there was no shooting down here. There was besides no mention of our fighters taking any intervention, due to the fact that it was not going into our country's territory – He said military.
The Ombudsman added that with “100 % certainty” he could say that the rocket is not in Poland.

If there was “any indication that the Russian rocket was heading for a destination in Poland, it would have been shot down” – said the Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz on Sunday.
