This change has resulted in a sharp increase in the number of formal clearances, leading to long-term delays in deliveries. DHL reported that it was working to increase the processing capacity of shipments, but until further announcement it suspended the acceptance of fresh consumer shipments above the indicated value. Business-to-business shipments and those below USD 800 are not suspended, although they may besides experience delays.
The company did not specify how long the current situation would last, but announced regular updates. The DHL decision is another consequence of the fresh tariffs which have generated perturbations in global trade. Earlier, Hong Kong Post suspended shipment of goods to the US, criticizing US regulations as "unwarranted". These changes may affect the prices and availability of products, especially from Chinese retailers specified as Temu and Shein.
