MON constantly encourages equipment manufacturers, distributors and another professionals to present solutions that will contribute to the various tasks of the Tarcza East project. The precedence is now to get tools to defend against weapons of mass demolition to detect chemical, biological, radiological and atomic threats.
The Department of Innovation of the Ministry of Defence has been gathering proposals for innovative technological solutions since the beginning of 2025 that can be utilized to build the Shield East. Among the most urgent needs mentioned by the MON so far were, among others, machines for digging shooting ditches, swarms of drones to mine remote, mobile bridges, prefabricated reinforced concrete. Now the Ministry of Defence focuses on working with technology experts to detect CBRN threats (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear).
The short list of the most urgent needs in the context of the Shield East included 2 positions. The first concerns the acquisition of stationary or mobile ground stations and unmanned platforms equipped with integrated CBRN detectors. Irrespective of the option, they are intended to guarantee real-time operation and transmission of measurement data. The second position is the CBRN detectors. This is simply a portable device, worn straight by a soldier, which acts as a "personal contamination alarm". specified a detector warns a soldier that a threat appeared in his surroundings – before it was felt. It is usually attached to a vest, belt or equipment, works all the time in the background (without user support) and reacts automatically by emitting a sound, light or vibrational signal.
Businesses may submit their proposals by completing a contact form for page of the “Tarcza East” programme under “Report Innovation”. MON stresses that the proposals for innovative solutions to be utilized for the construction of the Shields of the East are being analysed in item by dedicated teams of military experts in the areas of work identified. The evaluation of the proposal covers their possible in the context of achieving the objectives of the programme – if they meet the circumstantial criteria, the ministry will invitation selected producers to further cooperate. In practice, this means first agreeing the test conditions of the solutions submitted in 2 key stages: first for safety and then under operational conditions.
Eastern Shield is the largest operation since the Second planet War to strengthen the east border of Poland. The full task consists of various types of engineering dams set up at the border, but besides communication, recognition, mobility or investment in road infrastructure. The construction of the Shield East was planned for 2024–2028 as a reaction to Russian aggression against Ukraine. It is simply a peaceful investment that is designed to deter possible aggressors, defend soldiers and civilians and show readiness to defend borders together with allies. The fortification belt will cover the full dimension of the northern and east borders of Poland, but it is not expected to look the same everywhere. Depending on the existing natural conditions and the sculpture of the Shield site may include fortifications, logistics centers, roads and bridges or another solutions.
