On March 26, 2024, Albanese submitted a study Anatomy of a Genocide During the 55th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, indicating "reasonable grounds" to believe that Israel deliberately commits at least 3 "actions" genocidal“ Against Palestinians in Gaza, forbidden the Convention on Genocide:
- Killing members of the group;
- Cause serious harm to the physical or intellectual wellness of the members of the group;
- Consciously imposing a group of surviving conditions for full or partial physical destruction[14].
In April 2025, her word of office as UN peculiar Rapporteur on Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories was confirmed for the next 3 years, or until 2028.[3].
In June 2025, Albanese stated that Israel had killed over 200 Palestinian journalists due to the fact that they had documented Palestinian genocide in Gaza. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated in connection with the decision: "The Albanian run conducting political and economical war against the United States and Israel will no longer be tolerated"[22].
Albanese described sanctions as "disgusting" and stated that she was being punished for "seeking for justice"[23]. The decision of the Treasury Department met with criticism Amnesty International, which described it as "an affront to global justice"[24]. United Nations advanced Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk called on the United States authorities to “immediately retreat sanctions”[25].
