ATLANTA– Delta Air Lines (DL) has expanded its streamlined baggage transfer program for international arrivals, now including flights from Seoul’s Incheon International Airport (ICN) to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL).
Passengers on Delta and Korean Air (KE) flights from Seoul to Atlanta will no longer need to collect and recheck their luggage before connecting to a domestic flight, saving an estimated 25 minutes during layovers. While travelers must still clear security, their checked bags will transfer directly to their next flight.

Delta Adds Baggage Transfer for ICN-ATL Flight
Until now, U.S.-bound passengers typically faced several steps after landing: clearing passport control, retrieving checked baggage, rechecking it, and going through security again before reaching their connecting gate.
The revised procedure for Seoul–Atlanta arrivals removes the baggage recheck step. Bags are now automatically transferred to the connecting aircraft, similar to a domestic connection. This change is possible through a partnership between South Korean airport security and the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
Security officers at ICN send TSA agents X-ray images of passengers’ checked baggage while the aircraft is en route to the U.S. TSA reviews these images during the flight, making a second baggage screening unnecessary upon arrival, TPG reported.

Growing Network of One-Stop Security
Delta’s one-stop baggage transfer policy already applies to passengers arriving in Atlanta from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and to travelers on American Airlines (AA) connecting at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) after flights from LHR.
Currently, the program’s coverage is as follows:
- London Heathrow (LHR) → Atlanta (ATL) or Dallas Fort Worth (DFW): No baggage or security recheck required.
- Seoul Incheon (ICN) → Atlanta (ATL) on Delta or Korean Air: Baggage transfers automatically, but a security recheck is still required.
- Sydney Kingsford Smith (SYD) → Los Angeles (LAX) on American Airlines: Baggage transfers automatically, security recheck still required.
- Atlanta (ATL) or Dallas (DFW) → London Heathrow (LHR): No security recheck on arrival at LHR.

TSA and Airline Goals
U.S. Customs and Border Protection and TSA say the program strengthens both efficiency and safety. The aim is to expand the one-stop model to more countries with comparable security protocols.
Delta has confirmed it is working toward eventually removing the security recheck requirement for Seoul–Atlanta passengers.
For travelers, the benefit is clear: less time spent in transit procedures and more time to make onward flights.
