The visit was a consequence to the erstwhile stays of the Nippon Keidanren delegation in Poland, and at the same time another step in building long-term economical dialog and partnerships between business environments of both countries.
The Confederate of Leviathan was represented by Dr. Henryk Bochniarz (president of the founding party), Maciej Witucki (president of the Main Council), Małgorzata Mroczkowska-Horne (director general), Prof. Jacek Męcina (adviser of the board), Andrzej Trela (director of the key relations department), as well as representatives of associate companies associated with Leviathan.
Meetings with nipponese business and administration
One of the main points of the visit was the gathering with Nippon Keidanren leaders – the nipponese Federation of economical Organizations, the largest and most influential business organisation in Japan, representing over 1500 companies and over 100 manufacture and regional associations.
The nipponese side was represented by Toshiaki Higashihara and Makoto Takashima, president of the European Committee. The gathering at Keidanren office in Tokyo was a continuation of the dialog initiated during the October visit of the nipponese delegation to Poland.
The talks focused on the possibilities of closer economical cooperation and the possible of establishing a Polish-Japanese trade union.
The delegation besides met with Tomasz Gwozdowski, Head of the Political and economical Department of the Polish Embassy in Tokyo. The issues of promoting Poland as an economical partner were discussed.
At the office of the nipponese Ministry of Economy, Trade and manufacture (METI), a delegation of Leviathan met with the Deputy Minister of the Economy for global Cooperation, Mr Takehiko Matsuo. The subject of the talks afraid the anticipation of economical cooperation between Poland and Japan.
The delegation took part in planet Expo Osaka, visiting Poland's Pavilion, among others. As part of the event, the Lewiatan Confederation panel entitled “Polish-Japanese economical Cooperation”, attended by representatives of Expo organizers and representatives of another national pavilions.
The panel discussed the possible of Poland as an investment country for nipponese companies, possible of Polish companies as investors in Japan, robotics, dual use, as well as the decarbonisation of manufacture and the increasing request to increase the participation of women in management and decision-making structures of companies.
The panel ended with a networking cocktail, which created a space for little formal conversations and fresh contacts.
Intercultural relations and symbolic dimension
The final component of the visit was the stay in Kyoto, the erstwhile capital of Japan, where the delegation visited the territory of Arashiyama, the celebrated bamboo forest, the Kiyomizu-dera temple and the erstwhile summertime residence of representatives of the imperial court. The joint tour allowed for deeper relations in an atmosphere conducive to cultural knowing and exchange of experience.
A visit to Japan was an crucial step towards building a long-term economical partnership and expanding the presence of Polish business in the Asian market. We believe that the result of the talks will translate into concrete initiatives and lasting cooperation between companies associated with the Leviathan Confederation and nipponese partners.
