Introduced by the Law and Justice governments with the approval of politicians of the presently coalition on October 15, the illegal order to wear masks became only a memory for many. However, Chief Sanitary Inspector Paweł Grzesiowski, who is known for spreading covid propaganda, watches and reminds that the epidemiological situation again requires increased vigilance. Due to the expanding number of cases of COVID-19, influenza and RSV, Grzesiowski is considering returning to the recommendations on wearing masks and taking additional precautions.
Growing illness Wave
According to Paweł Grzesiowski, COVID-19 and another viral diseases are growing. Although the number of tests performed is presently lower than in the highest period of "pandemic", the data indicate a increasing trend of disease. “We confirm that a wave of illness is rising. It is hard to calculate how many people there are due to the fact that we are no longer doing mass tests, but surely the trend is growing," said Grzesiowski.
Also, the number of patients hospitalized due to COVID-19 complications increases, although in many cases the illness is not as severe as in erstwhile years. Grzesiowski points out, however, that people from hazard groups, especially older ones, may request hospitalisation and even oxygen therapy. "There are besides the first deaths of people with another diseases, so we gotta study that the wave has already reached Poland," he added.
Back to masks and another preventive measures
Due to the expanding number of diseases, the Chief Sanitary Inspector recommends returning to any non-pharmacological preventive measures known from earlier stages of the "pandemic". "To prevent the spread of COVID-19, but besides of influenza or RSV, we will urge wearing masks and expanding attention erstwhile it comes to hand hygiene or surface disinfection," said Grzesiowski.
Recommendations besides concern the request for wider investigating to enable effective diagnosis and isolation of patients. Grzesiowski pointed out the importance of detecting infections, even in cases that may seem mild to avoid further spread of viruses.
October illness summit
Paweł Grzesiowski warns that the highest of the illness may happen on the second half of October, the period during which the school and academic year begins. "We must so anticipate more young people to be affected," he added. This means that educational environments can become crucial outbreaks of fresh infections, which further underlines the request to take precautions.
Current situation
According to the Ministry of wellness data, an increase in SARS-CoV-2 infections has been observed since the beginning of July. In the first days of July, there were about 60 cases a day, but at the end of the period this number increased to over 200 cases a day. In August, these numbers doubled and on 13 August there was a abrupt increase of up to 820 fresh infections, indicating a further increase in the number of cases.
