It can be described as a key component of the tense strategy of the fresh air defence system. That's what experts say about the digital radio line R-460AM. The mobile transport and retention platform with a power generator acts as an ingenious workshop. And the crane's medical evacuation drone will measure the condition of the injured. These are the last of the products that won the Defender award this year.

Strategic connectivity

If communication systems are said to be the nerve of the army, then the radio line R-460AM Transbit can be described as a key component of the tense strategy of the fresh air defence strategy of our country. The device operates in the IV band and provides communication channels with a very advanced data transmission velocity – up to 600 Mbps in both directions. The radioline scope depends on the tallness of radio masts – in the optimal version it reaches about 40 km.

According to Krzysztof Cedrowski, manager of marketing and business improvement of Transbit, radioline R-460AM is simply a completely Polish product. “We have designed and now we produce its electronic components,” he explains. He adds that the device is the primary means of communication utilized by the Polish army of the anti-aircraft and rocket defence command strategy IBCS. It will be liable for the smooth operation of the fresh air defence strategy of the sVistula ystemsNarew and Pilica.

An Ingenious Workshop

The designation of the Defenders' jury was besides gained by Karavano, a mobile transport and retention platform with a power generator developed by engineers from Arpol Professional Tools. As its creators explain, Karavano was created on the basis of experiences of the Polish Army and uniformed services, which have been utilizing specialized constructions of the Podbydgów company for respective years (awarded already on MSPO).

– This is the solution in which we chose modularity. The platform based on a 10-foot container can be placed on a chassis or trailer, and its interior, divided into a aggregate and workshop zone, can be arranged to a large degree utilizing specialized rails and building elements, e.g. cabinets," explains Klepczyński Kacper, the main designer of the awarded solution.

Smart drone

The last of the solutions presented in our series is an autonomous vehicle of medical evacuation codenamed “Zuraw”. This is the consequence of investigation and improvement of engineers from the consortium of the Military Institute of Armoured and car Technology and the company Chema DS.

As the WITPIS representatives, who are the leader in this project, stressed, crane designers have utilized their experience of working on autonomous vehicle Kuna. The crane is somewhat larger and heavier, so you can install larger specialized modules on it.

At the Kielce Fair, a vehicle was shown equipped with a medical module, which consists – in simplification – of a tiny crane with pliers for taking wounded from the ground, as well as medical software. – The device will be able to self-assess the injured. See if he's qualified to evacuate from the battlefield. He will besides be able to give him the essential medicines, specified as painkillers – explains 1 of the engineers active in the project. In the vehicle, there are many compartments in which dressings, medicines and, for example, the essential surgical tools are stored, so that injured colleagues, thanks to video conferencing with specialists utilizing a drone, are able to supply professional assistance.

As the representatives of the Military Institute of Armoured and car Technology supply a medical unmanned vehicle, although it is only a prototype, it can get to mass production and service in the Polish army very rapidly in about six months.
