The Ministry of Digital Affairs announced the launch of a fresh groundbreaking service in the mCitizen app.
From now on, any adult can make a qualified signature free of charge, which is equivalent to a signature of his own and recognised throughout the European Union. Until now, this service has been only commercially available.
The fresh feature allows you to sign 5 papers free of charge within a month. As the Ministry of Digitalism emphasizes, this limit applies to private usage and is intended to be full adequate to deal with most cases, specified as signing contracts (e.g. rent of a flat, sale of a car) or authoritative applications. Poland is the first country in the EU to make this possible in the state application.
In order to usage a free qualified signature, 2 method conditions must be met: having an ID card with an electronic layer (i.e. each issued after 4 March 2019) and a smartphone equipped with a NFC module. The function is available to adult users of the latest version of the mCitizen application.
"This saves time, convenience and, above all, a certain and safe way to handle formalities online," commented Deputy Minister of Digitalization Dariusz Standerski.
The service is simply a consequence of the cooperation of the Ministry of Digital Affairs and COI with 4 Polish trust service providers: Asseco Data Systems (SimplySign), Enigma (Cencert), KIR (mSzafir) and PWPW (SIGILLUM).
How to usage a free signature?
The signing process takes respective steps. Firstly, the mCitizen application should enter the category ‘Official Affairs’ and choice the service ‘Qualified Signature’. The user then selects 1 of the 4 available suppliers (their order is random) and is redirected to its website to accept the rules and upload the paper to sign.
The key step is to confirm the identity. The application uses mProvidence certificate and e-Providence certificate. You must confirm your data and then enter a 6-digit CAN number (located in the corner of the proof) and apply your physical ID to the NFC reader on your phone. After successful identity verification, the certificate is generated and the paper is signed. Instructional films prepared by the Ministry of Digital Affairs:
