Can military cuisine be healthy and tasty?

What laws govern military cuisine, do soldiers eat healthy and tasty, or are uniform meals decently composed and nutritious? Is calorificity a fundamental rule of military diet? In the December issue of “Polish Armed Forces” we check how and what soldiers eat and whether the military “soft” is inactive complaining.

Military cuisine has been a gag for years, and examples of canteen jokes can be multiplied. "What does a soldier eat? “The soldier was defending the country,” 1 of the first I heard sounded. Do you know the recipe for military compote? We pour water into a ten-litre bucket, then we throw in a canary. So we then dilute with water. It seemed comic to me until I didn't know whether I was drinking tea or cereal coffee, tasting military specials. The taste of the drink was... rather ambiguous. The reality is fortunately changing, and the military kitchen is better than 10 or 20 years ago. Examples of changes are documented by soldiers on the Internet. On 1 of the social media profiles, they post pictures of dishes served in military units and on the ground. It does not look bad: tomato, cucumber, Hungarian soup, ground, de volaille or fried fish. For breakfast eggs, lettuce, sausage or mozzarella and tomatoes. I stopped looking further erstwhile I got eyes on a shrimp tagliatelle. Of course, the military canteen is not a Michelin-star restaurant, but it is glad that the taste qualities of the dishes served hold the right level.

In the December issue of the magazine, we check the laws governing the food army. What standards, receivables and conversion factors must be taken into account by people who plan to feed collective soldiers and those who then prepare and service these meals. We show that nutrition is simply a complex logistics strategy in which discipline and advanced technologies and cultural change play an increasingly crucial role. We besides emphasize that what we eat is of large importance to health, appropriate weight and physical fitness. And we want soldiers to be fit. The combat capacity of our army is not only Abrams, Himarsa or Apache – they are primarily strong and healthy people who support this modern equipment. In the December issue of the magazine, you will read not only about military peas and dry food rations. We will tell you how to cook on military ships, what to eat in utmost conditions and how Ukrainian soldiers cope with the issue of nutrition on the front. That's not all. 1 of the best-known dietists and influensers by Michał Wrosk, we asked him what he thought about military nutrition and calorie of meals.

RECLAMA

The latest PZ is, however, not only calories, kitchen, cafeteria and dry food rations. In the magazine you will find many interesting and current topics. I recommend, among others, the material “Good morning, Orko!” about the fresh submarines of the Polish Navy, the text about the Borsuks “Era of Polish BWPs” or the relations of our journalists with general training “in Gototy” and “OPW with a drone”. I besides draw attention to the discussion on the fresh tasks of territorialists and the building of the Border defence Component. The commander of WOT General Dyw. Krzysztof Stańczyk explains where fresh sub-chapters will be deployed and how many the COP units will be.

We are besides looking at what is happening outside the country. In the monthly magazine you will find interesting analyses of al-Qaeda, the “Z” generation rebellion against power, censorship and corruption, and a discussion on the anticipation of restarting atomic tests.

Good reading!
