Is that how we want to live? National Review of the Confederacy Programme - Part One

The Confederation is painted as the only anti-systemic alternate on the Polish political stage. However, does it truly present a good national voters as an alternate to pseudo-Catholic populists and left-liberal salon? It is best to look for answers in the 2023 electoral programme, called the Constitution of Freedom. In this part of the article we will discuss taxation proposals.

The eventual advantage of the full program is its large transparency and clear graphic setting. Each section is first covered by a thorough analysis of the problem, which is mainly a summary of the destructive activities of erstwhile governments, to then decision on to the party's proposals.

Turning to the substantive part, the programme frequently begins with the taxation issue raised by the Confederate politicians. Under the slogan "simple and low taxes" lies the full plowing of the current system, ranging from a crucial increase of the free amount to a twelve-fold minimum wage (for September 2023 it is PLN 43200). At the same time, it is proposed to introduce a linear PIT 12% as a basic tax, as well as to destruct more than 15 taxes, recognised by the programme's authors as unnecessary drainage of the portfolios of Polish citizens.

Among the more interesting proposals, attention should be paid to extending the taxation credit to young Poles up to the age of 26, who conduct business activities, as well as eliminating the capital gains tax, more widely known as the Belka tax. A large advantage is the evidence of disciplinary dismissal of any authoritative who does not comply with the provision to settle any taxation uncertainty in favour of the payer himself.

The seemingly simplification of the taxation strategy in the Confederacy edition sounds great. After all, it's theoretically little money that leaves our accounts. Is it truly as good as the Constitution of Freedom?

Above all, the eyes are struck by the deficiency of peculiar attention to abroad corporations and their privileged position on the Polish market. The largest corporations usage a full array of methods to avoid fair accounting with the Polish state. For example, abroad supermarkets, headed by German Aldi, which in 2015-2020 did not pay a penny of CIT tax! The popular Ladybug paid a taxation of only 1% of its full gross during this period!

And discount food is not an isolated case. Similarly, there is simply a bad case with telecommunications companies. The evidence holder is German T-Mobile, who paid only PLN 30 000 taxation for 5 years!

The large abroad corporations drain the Polish taxation strategy through a mass of legal loopholes and at the same time receive large money from the state. Production companies specified as Volkswagen Motor Polska or LG Electronics received almost PLN 1.2 billion of public money support over 5 years. Money, which mostly comes from companies with dominant Polish capital, and from the pockets of average Poles.

Foreign corporations openly drain the state budget and shift work to the Polish taxpayer. This problem is not addressed in any way in the Confederacy programme. A organization that frequently likes to name itself a “national” and “patriotic” party.

Why? Among the Confederacy's ideas is the plan to destruct VAT on electricity, coal and firewood. A crucial simplification in VAT and excise duties on fuel is besides proposed. And erstwhile again, we come up with an thought whose apparent sound seems great. But where, then, do we get the money to finance the Confederacy’s plan to increase defence spending or improve the Border Guard’s activities?

The money will take place after the Confederation proposed to reduce the Polish education and healthcare strategy and subject them to marketplace rights. The advantages and disadvantages of specified a solution will appear in the next part of the article.

It must be admitted that Confederates' taxation ideas sound good on paper, but do not hit a fewer direct problems tormenting the Polish taxation system, specified as taxation injustice and avoidance of fees by large corporations. After a closer look, we can besides see that they favour mainly entrepreneurs.
