Will the president pardon Benjamin Netanyahu?

In an astounding letter to Israel's president Icchak Herzog Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed him that his lawyers had requested pardon. Netanjah himself refrained from making specified a request in his letter. He simply stated that ending his five-year trial for bribery, corruption and abuse of trust would be "in the national interest".
