Will Lubań become the fresh Oleśnica? expanding opposition to changes in the Lusatia Medical Center

Since February, Dr Gizela Jagielska, a gynecologist and midwife known throughout Poland for performing abortions in advanced pregnancy, has been working at the Lużycki Medical Center in Lubań. Her employment has sparked strong opposition from residents who fear that hospital may begin to depart from its primary mission – protecting life from conception.

Gizela Jagielska gained publicity in Poland as a gynecologist performing abortions in very advanced stages of pregnancy:

Abortion at 26 weeks of pregnancy after which the child, although born alive, received no real medical attention and died. It was this situation that became the basis for the notification to the prosecutor's office and the application for temporary suspension of the profession by the legal organisation Ordo Iuris. Discontinuing care of a surviving newborn after abortion is simply a violation of the penal code and medical obligations towards the patient.

Otherwise, Dr. Jagielska had an abortion at the end of the ninth period of pregnancy erstwhile the kid was full developed. The case went to the D.A.'s office, but in 2025, the proceedings were dropped due to the fact that investigators considered it formally right It's not broken.

Gizela Jagielska was widely criticized for publically showing social media details about abortion. 1 of her channels on the network featured recordings and instructions in which the doctor showed how to usage medical tools for abortion, explaining step by step the usage of a mammal to evacuate pregnancy, with her speech and the way of describing the “take-out of material” underestimated the drama of the child's death.

In another cases, Jagielska published photographs of dead fetuses children, both on profiles related to her professional activities and on private accounts, frequently in a way that lacks respect for human life.

The actions of Gizela Jagielska led to the fact that on 16 April 2025 the Euro MP Grzegorz Braun entered the infirmary in Oleśnica and attempted to make a alleged "civil detention", blocking it in 1 of the rooms and trying to prevent it from having an abortion. On 17 February, Euro MP Grzegorz Braun is to be interviewed by the Wrocław prosecutor in connection with suspected violations of physical immunity of Dr Gizela Jagielska in the infirmary in Oleśnica.

Peaceful protest by residents

On January 24, a peaceful protest was held before the Lużycki Medical Center in Lubań. The convention participants expressed concerns that the infirmary could become a place for abortion and stressed that each medical institution should primarily service the life and wellness of all man.

The president of the Management Board of the Non-public Department of wellness Care of the Lusetian Medical Center in Lubań is Anna Płotnicka-Mieloch, who headed the infirmary in Legnica from 2019 to 1923. According to electoral.pl, her nomination was widely commented, pointed to political connections with PiS.

During the protest there was a conversation between residents and the president of the facility, Anna Płotnicka-Mieloch, who questioned the legitimacy of the assembly. In the face of staff plans and public statements from the hospital's management, any residents ask for support from life-saving organisations. As they stress, they fear changing the profile of the patient and leaving its primary mission – protecting the life and wellness of patients, without exceptions.

President of the hospital: life begins after childbirth

A further concern was raised by the public statements of the fresh infirmary president, Anna Płotnicka-Mieloch, who, during the protest and Public Rosary in the intention of protecting life, stated that man's life only begins after childbirth. Her words have caused shock and opposition among the inhabitants due to the fact that they are in clear conflict with the findings of modern biology and medicine. Since conception, a new, separate human body is created, which develops gradually until birth, and his life is protected by medical and ethical principles.

For many people, the president’s message is not only a technological error, but besides a signal that the management of the facility may underestimate the protection of unborn children’s lives.

Hospital “counts on rising births”

The manager of the Lublin infirmary is optimistic about the future: 202 births were recorded in 2025 (a year earlier – 167), and the employment of Gizela Jagielska, known for having an abortion in an advanced pregnancy, has, according to the President, resulted in an even greater increase in births. According to the authorities, women are already asking for her to lead their pregnancy. This sounds paradoxical and disturbing, due to the fact that in the context of earlier actions of the doctor, the question "how can there be more births?" takes on a bitter, ironic meaning.

Public Rosaries in defence of Life

In consequence to events related to the employment of Gizela Jagielska, another Public Rosary was announced in the intention of stopping abortion. The nearest 1 will be on Saturday 7 February at 1 p.m. in front of Lusatia Medical Center in Lubań. The organizers emphasize that this is simply a peaceful form of prayer and evidence in defence of the smallest and weakest.

These events remind us that concern for human life, from conception to natural death, is not just a substance of worldview, but a foundation of ethics, medicine and social responsibility.
