On the second day of the armoured army platoon competition, it was time to compete with tanks and their crews. Soldiers in armored colosses had to show themselves, among others, in overcoming the obstacle track and customs throwing a grenade from the tank hatch. After a fierce fight, the order remains the same. In leading the platoon from Crane, behind it the tanks from Morag, and the 3rd place occupied the hosts.
Competition organized 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade from Świętszów. In addition to the organizer's platoon on Leopard 2PL tanks, the following besides stood: plutonium from 1 Tank Battalion 20 Mechanized Brigade of Morag on K2 tanks and 1 Tank Battalion from the 19th Mechanized Brigade of Crane on Abrams. A full of 44 soldiers participate in the competition.
As long as yesterday, the day the competition started, participants were mainly waiting for fitness competitions, e.g. run with carnists, training ammunition and drag of the tank rope, so present tanks entered the conflict square, the alleged presidential hill at the 10 BKPanc. camp.
– Participants had to demonstrate, among others, the ability of a customs throw grenade from the tank hatch to the poles 20 metres away. Another competition was to drive from a standing car of fire with individual and anti-aircraft weapons to the target, as noted by Major Konrad Stefanowicz, Commandant of the Leopard Training Centre, which is part of the 10th BKPanc.
In addition, “tankers” recognized another countries' military equipment on the basis of photographs shown for a fewer seconds and distributed a device weapon equipped with a tank on time. In Leopardy, it's a MG3 rifle. This competition went very well, we managed to deploy the weapon in 16 seconds – says Lieutenant Oskar Sikora, commander of the 10 BKPanc tank platoon. – besides the grenade throw went well, the gunman threw only 18 centimeters from the pole. We are pleased, but we must fight due to the fact that the competition is strong – the officer admits.
The last point of today's competition was a 2.5 km obstacle course. The crews had to defeat him in time, performing a number of scheduled tasks. The tests included driving slalom between obstacles, the ability to ride backwards, occupy a fire station and overcome field obstacles – slaloms and hills. – This is simply a large chance for us not only to test the skills of soldiers, but besides to test the machines themselves erstwhile performing tactical tasks, their behaviour in difficult, hilly and sandy terrain – says Major Stefanowicz.
The order after these competitions remained unchanged. After the second day of competition, the first place continued to be taken by the soldiers from the crane in Abrams. They are followed by tankers from Morag on K2, and the 3rd position falls to the hosts on Leopards. Fire competitions are waiting for the contestants tomorrow, which means directing plutonium fire day and night. Participants will start competing early in the morning, while night shooting will begin at around 9:00 p.m. The competition for the title of the best platoon of armored troops in Poland will last until Friday.
