Part Four
Some time later, I had to leave Canada due to business. erstwhile I returned 2 years later, “Bingo” was inactive with Gordon Wright's old family. I thought he forgot me, but he didn't. 1 day, early in winter, he disappeared for 48 hours. He later returned to Gordon's home crawling along with his wolf snares and a dense log at his feet. The hands were very cold. He wouldn't let anyone close him to aid him. Then I, now a stranger, leaned down and took a snare with 1 hand and his paw with another. He grabbed my hand in his fangs right away. I didn't respond and I said: < ‘Bingo’, don't you admit me?>. He was about to let go of my hand, even though he howled hard while removing the trap. He recognized me as his master despite my long absence. I besides felt he was my dog. During the winter he was lame and 2 of his claws were cut. But before the warmer days of his life force came back so much that he became stronger, and there was no sign of the terrible experience of the steel stumps.
