Temporary suspension of the right to asylum at the border with Belarus extended by 60 days

Since 22 March, a temporary regulation on the right to apply for global protection at the border with Belarus has been extended for another 60 days. In the view of the government, the reason for this regulation has not ceased.

In accordance with the Regulation of the Council of Ministers published in the authoritative Journal, the temporary limitation of the right to apply for global protection at the border with Belarus was extended from 22 March 2026 to another 60 days.

Earlier on March 13, the Sejm accepted the government's proposal and agreed to a further temporary suspension.

According to the government, the reasons for the introduction of the regulation have not stopped, there is inactive an instrumentalisation of migration, and the actions taken in this framework represent a serious and real threat, inter alia, to national security.

The Regulation on temporary limitation of the right to apply for global protection at the border with Belarus entered into force on 27 March 2025. Under the law, the regulation is valid for 60 days, but with the consent of the Sejm at the request of the Council of Ministers it can be extended, which has already happened 5 times.
