Today there is no military management without the implementation of artificial intelligence," said Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamish during the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Cyberspace defence Army Commander and Dell and the SpeakLeash Foundation. A key function will be played by the Center for Artificial Intelligence Implementation, supporting command processes and cyber defence.
The papers were signed by Maj. Gen. Karol Molenda, Commander of the Cyberspace defence Army, Dariusz Piotrowski, president of the Board of Dell Technologies Polska, and Sebastian Kondracki, president of the Board of the SpeakLeash Foundation and co-founder of the Polish language model Bielik.AI.
The agreements are intended to contribute to the improvement and implementation of artificial intelligence solutions for the Polish Army. “Today there is no military management, armed forces, an army structure of more than 200 000 people, various actions, equipment, training processes and support for society without the implementation of artificial intelligence”, said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence at the ceremony at the Military Centre for Civic Education in Warsaw.
The head of the MON recalled that Artificial Intelligence Implementation Center in the Polish Army has been operating for respective months with large hopes and a large request for the future. The CISI besides plays a key function in the implementation of the agreements signed. The Centre carries out design-programme work aimed at the applicable usage of artificial intelligence in an operational environment. It functions as a technological hub integrating military, discipline and manufacture potential.
The agreement with Dell Technologies Poland will let CISI to usage the modern computing infrastructure of this company for database analysis. As General Molenda pointed out, DKWOC is liable for the safe collection and production of data, but besides for the image-building and transportation of the situation on time. This is very important. With the current immense amount of data, we request to invest in requesting modules, in systems that let us to process a immense amount of data and give us an advantage – said the commander of DKWOC. He besides stressed that it was crucial to process data in military infrastructure.
In turn, thanks to cooperation with the SpeakLeash environment, the military will gain cognition and competence in the improvement of the Polish language model of artificial intelligence Bielik. As Sebastian Kondracki said, a combination of cyberspace defence forces and Bielik will make a sovereign artificial intelligence model that will have the chance to become a European free first choice model.
As DKWOC points out, cooperation under the signed contracts provides for the implementation of joint investigation and development, technological workshops and demonstration of artificial intelligence solutions in selected operational scenarios. These activities will focus on assessing the anticipation of utilizing AI in command processes, data analysis and support of situation awareness.
