Enthusiasm associated with a more assertive post-Soviet policy of the Central Asian republics towards Russia is premature, although of course it is worth continuing efforts to break up the Organization of the Collective safety Agreement (ODKB), especially as this is supported by the impertinence of Russian propaganda. Today, however, Armenia is the only country that is clearly drawn to the West. Moreover, China, Turkey and, to a lesser extent, Iran besides want to strengthen their influence in the region at the expense of Russia, not allowing the West there.
