Poland with the highest rate of prisoners in the EU

In 2023 203 people per 100,000 residents were in Polish prisons, 187 in Hungary and 181 in the Czech Republic. The lowest population per 100,000 residents was in prisons in Finland - 53, Netherlands - 66 and Slovenia - 68.
In terms of the number of prisoners, Poland is besides at the forefront of the European Union countries. With the consequence of 74.5 000 people deprived of liberty, we take second place, just behind France, where the figure is 75.9 000.
