It is increasingly common to throw God’s Word to the wind.
«If anyone says, 'I love God' and hates his brother, he is simply a liar, for he who does not love his brother whom he sees cannot love God, whom he sees not» (1 Jn 4:20).
St. John Paul II:
"In the religion of Christians, Jews and Muslims, the golden regulation is known in 1 form or another: «Do to others as you want others to do to you». Although this rule is simply a very valuable signpost, actual love of neighbour goes much further. It is based on the belief that erstwhile we love our neighbor, we show love for God, and erstwhile we hurt our neighbor, we offend God. This means that religion is the enemy of divisions and discrimination, hatred and rivalry, force and conflict. religion is not and cannot become an excuse for violence."
Cardinal Grzegorz Ryś:
"Please, if you choose to participate in discussions - especially public - on the right relation to refugees and migrants - then do so in deep union with the real teaching of Christ and the Church. But if not, please: have the courage at least to stay silent in specified cases and not to add fire to specified a burning reality.”
What beautiful words... And the actions? Do we not announcement in ourselves that we are no longer in favour of or even out of compassion for Ukrainians? Don't we support howling to pursuit out "sucky," "black," "slopy-eyed"? Do we "don't support but understand" force against "foreign"?
It is not adequate to tap the Gospel — to live it. For he that hates, divides, disfellowships, and harms — even if he speaks the happiness of God on all occasion — he actually denies the Gospel.
Therefore, it is the task of decent people to preach peace and love and to protest all signs of hatred, even (or possibly especially) erstwhile Poland goes in the other direction.
