Construction of Norwegian - German submarines starts

The kind 212CD (Common Design) submarines being built at the Kiel shipyard thyssenkrupp Marine Systems are the consequence of a programme jointly run by Norway and Germany. Both countries decided to order the same ships, which was to reduce their construction costs and at the same time increase cooperation between their own naval forces.
