On Saturday, nearly a 1000 runners competed in the 20th run of the Katorżnik. Among them was our editorial colleague Marta Kazmierczak, who gave us a immense surprise, winning in the category of journalists. The way of this 1 of the most hard field gears in Poland was beaten by 783 players, and 181 people registered at the finish line of shorter races.
The jubilee edition of the iconic run brought together hundreds of daredevils ready to fiercely compete for different medals – suspended on a chain of cast iron horseshoes. Unfortunately, the organizer, Military “Meta” Runner Club Lubliniec, announced that this cult organization was the last time. In a farewell run, as in erstwhile years, respective races took place on the main route, including the team's Galernik Team. About a nine-mile long were besides defeated by duets competing for triumph in “The Escape of Hostages”. On the another hand, the race for children, young people, grandmothers and grandparents was organized again on shorter distances. The youngest participants in the baby category, who made the tour, of course in the assistant parent, were born in 2023. The oldest individual to finish the run, and the 86-year-old Helena Wind from Oleśnica – at the finish line in Forest Ustronie Posmyk registered for the eighth time!
Players for organisational reasons, so that traffic does not form on the route, are divided into respective groups. The winner of each series was recognized as an equal triumphant of the event. The first group took off at 10 a.m. He was the first to scope the finish line – after 1 hr 44 min 44 s marching, crossing muddy sections and moving – Marcin Faleczyk from the 13th Silesian Territorial Defence Brigade. The second race of men was won by Kamil Malek from the “Wild Lejenie” group (1 hours 39 min 46 s), and the 3rd Paweł Wójcik from Gliwice (1 hr 28 min 1 s). In the rivalry of women, in which 110 contestants were ranked, Natalia Kowalska from 11 Małopolska BOT (1 hours 40 min 8 s) triumphed. In the individual squad run classification Galernik squad and the best consequence – 1 hr 25 min 50 s – was awarded by Dawid Matyszczak from the squad issued by the Military Unit of the Commandos. The VIP rivalry was won by Tomasz Biernacki, Chief of the Regional Fire Service in Garwolin (1 hours 46 min 27 s).
In squad competition, in the category of Galernik Team, with the participation of 28 four-man teams, the JWK squad team of Dawid Matyszczak, Wojciech Kwiatkowski, Sebastian Kawczyński, Konrad Matuszczyk triumphed. Winners made the tour at a full time of 6 hours 20 minutes 1 s. The second place, with a time of 6 hours 29 min 21 s, was taken by a squad representing the Bryz Postomino moving Club. The 3rd phase of the podium was won by Hawk squad – 55 min 40 s lost to the winners.
On the another hand, 5 duets that competed for the best in the category of "The Escape of Hostages" were defeated by the American squad team squad Badger. Aga Lisik and Stanley Garas with difficulty of the way and with their weaknesses fought for 2 hours 49 min 59 p. The second place was taken by the squad from Sfory BMK Ustka, and the 3rd duet from Lublicca, consisting of Ewa Bambynek and Kacper Wybłosz.
On the podium were besides the best players in the category of journalists. 5 women and 8 men entered the competition. He was the first of these thirteen, after 1 hr 35 mins of competition, Andrzej Michoń from the Press Department of 2nd Polish Corps – Command of the Land Component in Kraków checked in. The second finished, winning competition among journalists, Marta Kazmierczak from the Military Publishing Institute in Warsaw. Our editorial colleague made the tour in little than 2 hours. As a debutante at this event, organized by the Lublin Meta, she was impressed by what the organizers had prepared for the participants. – An different medal, a cast iron horseshoe on the chain, reflects the momentum of this event. I gotta prepare a peculiar place for this trophy. I am grateful to destiny that I could represent the “Army Poland” in this run – Marta stressed.
Interestingly, our WIW friend found out about the event by accident the day before it started. She spontaneously decided to leave due to the fact that she wanted to complete the run in which she intended to start years ago. – For many years I have participated in various runs, especially mountain runs. About 10 years ago, I signed up for Katorznik, but I had any crucial household celebration, and I didn't make it to Lublin. And now I want it hadn't been for me to compete in the farewell Run of the Caterpillar. It was with large sadness that I received the news that this run would no longer be organized – the winner of the writer rivalry admitted.
Triumph of WIW, although she returned from Lubliczka with clear footprints on her feet after wandering about hidden roots and another obstacles in the mud, fondly recalls her participation in Katorźnik. The atmosphere was wonderful. For me, from the position of a individual who is not a commando, crossing a way that had much to do with the selection of peculiar units had any kind of magic. On narrow episodes, gentlemen were willing to give me priority. I am glad that I finished this run, which truly had small in common with moving – Marta admitted.
For the 18th time, patronage over Run the Catornik held the National safety Office. Present in competitions and celebrations on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Military moving Club Meta Deputy Head of BBN gen. Brig. dir. Mirosław Wiklik decorated the most well-deserved activists and players of the Lublin club with advanced state and hotel decorations.
