Shortly after the second circular of presidential elections, in which the candidate supported by the Law and Justice – Karol Nawrocki – was victorious, the political phase in Poland begins to transform dynamically. 1 of the key actors in the political arena is the Confederate, who openly declares his willingness to velocity up the Sejm's word of office and decision on to the early parliamentary elections.

Confederation: Accelerated elections are an chance to transform the political scene

The Deputy Head of the Confederate Parliamentary Club, Mr Michał Wawer, stressed in a discussion with PAP that his group had been in favour of shortening the word of office of the current Sejm for years. In his opinion, specified a step could completely change the political structure in the country.

"Confederation is always in favour of accelerated elections, due to the fact that it would completely redecorate the political scene" “Wawer said.

At the same time, the policy acknowledged that it did not anticipate support for this initiative from the Civic Platform. In order for the Sejm to be able to shorten its word of office, the consent of a majority of two-thirds of the statutory votes of the number of Members – that is, the cooperation of both the Law and the GO.

Trzaskowski made a mistake? Waver's comment on election night

Mr Wawer besides did not spare harsh criticism of Rafał Trzaskowski, who rapidly announced his triumph after the exit poll results. According to Waver, it was an unnecessary and compromising move.

"For an experienced politician like Rafał Trzaskowski it was simply embarrassing to announce triumph besides quickly" – rated Waver.

Indeed, the final election results differed from polling forecasts by respective tenths of a percent point, which was decisive in the second circular of elections.

Karol Nawrocki received 50.89% of the vote and Rafał Trzaskowski received 49.1%.

Support for a vote of distrust? Confederate ready to support the Law and Justice

Wawer besides answered questions about the Confederate's possible actions towards the Donald Tusk government. He pointed out that if the PiS put forward a draft bill on the vote of distrust, The Confederation will consider his support.

However, he noted that no coalition talks with the Confederacy would start sooner than after accelerated or planned elections. It is simply a clear signal that the group does not intend to participate in the hot negotiations without a fresh electoral card.

The conditions of the Confederation: Programme and organization security

An crucial aspect of the Confederacy's position is the conditions that Waver has set for future coalition talks:

  • implementation of circumstantial programming requests,
  • providing key governmental and organization functions,
  • security guarantees – including the deficiency of capability of peculiar services against coalition partners.

"We will negociate from the position of force. We are not ready to throw ourselves at all costs in the arms of Kaczyński or Tusk just to get to power” – stressed Wawer.

This remark refers to earlier experiences of smaller coalition partners, specified as the self-defense of Andrzej Lepper, which have been marginalized or even removed from the government.

Suspect movements, Tusk? Possible Prime Minister maneuvers

Wawer besides did not regulation out Donald Tusk's attempts to effort to drag any MPs to his side from the parties forming the civilian Coalition. This justifies the mediocre results of any coalition partners in the presidential election.

Such a script may lead to destabilisation of the existing coalition and an effort to build a majority to destruct 1 of the partners from the government.

Confederacy 3rd Force in the Sejm? The polls give a real chance

According to the latest opinion24 poll for RMF FM (published 2.06.2025), if parliamentary elections were held now, The Confederation could become the 3rd power in parliament:

  • Civil Coalition – 31.1%,
  • Law and Justice – 27.2%,
  • Confederation – 16%,
  • New Left – 5.9%,
  • Third Road – below the electoral threshold,
  • Party Together – Alone to the Sejm.

This data suggests that the Confederation has a strong position in the public opinion and can play a decisive function in shaping the future government coalition.

Summary

The Confederation is moving towards accelerated elections as a way of political renewal in Poland. Michał Wawer clearly sets out the negotiating course – dialog only after a fresh electoral card and only from the position of force. The group demands programme and organization guarantees to avoid the destiny of earlier smaller coalition partners.

So will the accelerated elections become a fact? Everything depends on a possible PiS-KO agreement, which is not seen on the horizon today. The Confederacy can be the key to the future of governments in Poland.
