Press conference attended by Michał Urbaniak and Ryszard Wilk on the Confederacy's proposal to regionalise the minimum wage.
Michał Urbaniak:
– (...) The Confederation calls for minimum wage varies according to which region we are in, depending on the voivodship. Among another things, the economical conditions in Poland disagree greatly in different parts of the country. You make money in the country, you make money in large cities. ...
Richard Wilk:
– specified a dynamic increase in minimum wage across the country, without regionalisation, has a number of negative consequences.
First, we gotta ask ourselves: Who will actually bear the cost of specified a large increase in minimum wage? Of course, first of all, it will be employerAnd secondly, alone. Citizens. As employers will necessarily gotta make specified a large increase in the cost of this minimum wage put in the price of their goods and services. Furthermore, the State, of course, will deduct its share from this increase in the form of income taxation and contributions due.
– On the 1 hand, we will have the illusion that our salaries are rising, but on the another hand this will be deducted, among another things, in inflation. Another very negative origin is that currently at the gross wage of PLN 3600, the worker receives PLN 2700 and the employer has to pay PLN 4300 for this. This gives emergence to a very serious concern that, especially in the poorer areas of our country, we will start to grow a grey region due to the fact that entrepreneurs will not be able to bear the burden of paying specified a large minimum wage for workers.
– Another negative origin is that for a long time we have seen a very large Flatting of employees' salaries. What does that mean? In 2020, 1.5 million Poles made a minimum salary. This year, it's already here. 2.5 million. Next year, this could be 3.5 million workers who will gain a minimum salary. This discourages people from gaining fresh competences to grow their qualifications due to the fact that they will inactive gain a minimum salary.
This can be seen in the example of a teacher. Why should specified a man finish his studies, why should he try, why should he make his competences erstwhile he will inactive gain the lowest national.
The thought of raising the minimum wage across the country and not regionalizing it is simply a way to nowhere. ...
