The case of Marcin Romanowski. The defence has applied.

District Court for Warsaw-Mokotów in early December last year agreed to 3 months' detention for a fishy in the Justice Fund of erstwhile Deputy Justice Minister Marcin Romanowski. But the politician went on Hungary, where he obtained political asylum. In February, the Warsaw territory Court set the deadline for a gathering on 6 May on the complaint of the defence for this detention.

Following a gathering last Tuesday, Romanist counsellor Bartosz Lewandowski informed journalists that the parties had presented their positions, but by defence "he remained a request for exclusion from the Judge’s jurisdiction Anna Bator-Ciesielska". He added that in the event that the court failed to accept the application, a judgement on the complaint should be brought on 12 May. In turn - as he added - if the court accepts the proposal, then "there will be a fresh gathering in the fresh composition and the parties will re-present their positions".

The PK lawyer Piotr Wozniak said that after filing a motion to exclude the judge, the court was obliged to examine him, so a break had to be ordered.

Immunity of Marcin Romanowski

Marcin Romanowski is Suspect in the Justice Fund investigation. The prosecution accuses him of participating in an organized crime group and manipulating competitions for funds from this fund.

Originally, the prosecution presented 11 charges to Romanowski. On this issue, the Sejm on 12 July (and on 2 October 2024 the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, whose associate of the Law and Justice is 1 of the delegates), agreed to bring Romanowski to criminal work and his detention. In March of that year, the D.A.'s office asked for another motion to waive immunity from erstwhile deputy chief of MS - this was essential due to the fresh 8 charges that the D.A. wants to impose on Romanowski. Therefore, in February the Sejm again waived Romanowski's immunity.
