Coalition in the fire of interior disputes. The hinges are pushing, Tusk and the others are not giving way

dailyblitz.de 4 weeks ago

The atmosphere in the ruling coalition is tense after the losing presidential election by Rafał Trzaskowski. Group leaders – Donald Tusk (KO), Szymon Hołownia (Poland 2050), Krzysztof Gawkowski (Nowa Lewica) and Włodzimierz Czarzasta (Lewica) – effort to re-establish the principles of cooperation, but differences in the approach to reforms and the deadline of reconstruction of the government make conflicts.

The hoarding home is out front. 4 demands that divide the coalition

Szymon Hołownia, talker of the Sejm and leader of Poland 2050, published on social media a list of demands against the coalitions, which faced the annoyance of partners from the government. His post on the X platform contained 4 key points:

  1. 1. Government reconstruction and renewal in the coalition now, not in July. The word said – there is no reason to delay.
  2. 2. The coalition must commit to the list of reforms it will carry out as shortly as possible. Our package includes 5 key changes for Poles: the Act on the Retreat of TVP, the Act on the individual Assistance of Persons with Disabilities, the Anti-Cuque Act, the immediate unlocking of money for inexpensive housing and the listing of credits, the Act prohibiting smartphones in primary schools
  3. 3. The smallest European government in 1 of the largest European countries is inexpensive populism, but the Polish government is to be thinner. Why would a minister request a flood a year ago? Why in the ministry of 7 deputy ministers?
  4. 4. A fresh coalition agreement before the government adopts the draft budget. Our plans must be covered in numbers.

"To work, or in 2 years' time, Prime Minister Czarnek will sit with Minister Mentzen" – concluded Holovnia, suggesting that the deficiency of reforms could lead to the return of the Law and the Confederation to power.

Angry Coalitions: “The Hall puts us against the wall”

The consequence of government partners was immediate. As Virtual Poland reports, frustration is increasing among KO and Left politicians.

"We decided that we were talking to each another first, not through the media, and Holovnia was trying to put us against the wall" – says an anonymous origin from the coalition.

"I don't know why he's writing it, due to the fact that there won't be any reconstruction next week" – adds another caller.

According to the findings of the WP journalists, changes in government can only happen at the turn of July and August, which contradicts Holownia's demands.

Will the coalition survive?

Tensions in the power camp can have serious consequences. If the dispute escalates, there may be delays in key reforms or even the dissolution of the agreement. Meanwhile, the government must face a fresh political reality – Karol Nawrocki's presidency and increasing social discontent.

Will the Holovnia convince the coalitions to make their demands? Or will it lead to an even bigger crisis? The following days will show whether the rulers can find a common language.
