Exactly seventy years ago, Poland was hit in the back. The Polish army then fought in Warsaw, Modlin, Hel, in the area of Lviv, in Lublin and in many another places of our country; the conflict of Kutne continued. On that day, around 2 o'clock in the night, the over six 100 1000 russian army entered the borders of the Republic ? made an act of aggression; it was not a trespass. At 3:00 a.m., the Polish ambassador was called to the russian Ministry of abroad Affairs to find out that the Polish state did not be and the government escaped. In fact, the Government of the Republic was then in office on its territory.
There has been the most common act of aggression, an act that was an act of war. Poland became the victim of 2 aggressors during the war. I know it's not the first time I've said it, but it's the fact that needs to be repeated all day.
Our army has resisted a russian aggressor in many places. any of the many battles and skirmishes have just been recalled. The hero was Grodn's defense, the heroism of Polish soldiers showed in many another places, although they acted without express orders. They were simply defending their homeland and it was a spontaneous and average act; soldiers are from defending their homeland.
Many of them, in peculiar many of the officers, were taken prisoner and by a decision of March 5, 1940, which was formally a decision of the Political Office and, in fact, a decision of Stalin, were murdered. If specified an act, involving 30,000 people, is not an act of genocide, what is it? I ask due to the fact that it was contested in Poland, and not by just anyone. I full realize the request for reconciliation, but nations can unite only in truth, I repeat: only in truth, especially erstwhile it comes to a large nation specified as Poland, and even more. The years 1939-1941 in the territory, which included more than 50 percent of the territory of the pre-war Second Republic, are years of not only murders on officers. They are besides thousands of executions of political activists, in what is interesting, and left-wing activists who at first thought that here are good times coming; they rapidly ended, before russian firing squads. This demolition of Polish intelligence is the transport of hundreds of thousands of people to Kazakhstan, Zabaykala, republics in northern Europe, autonomous republics. These are camps and deaths of children, women and men. This is the fact about these times, and it is in our interest, besides political, to remember this ? Especially erstwhile on 1 September, on the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of planet War II on Westerplatte, in a place that is simply a symbol, we hear about the plan of a fresh architecture for Europe. I told a fewer hours ago at the Polish Historical Society convention that Poland's place in this fresh architecture must be highly tight; by nature things can be said. So let's not effort to enter this place!
Let us look for a partner Europe where our country deserves a place due to its size and history. due to the fact that past cannot be escaped. Our planet is ? for today's surviving generations ? Of course, first of all the future, but it cannot be separated from the past. Reconciliation in Europe, understood widely at this point, is needed. But the basis of this reconciliation must frequently be the hard truth. Again: Poland has no reason to do humility lessons. Poland acted as it should have been. Let humility be taught by those to whom specified a lesson is due. For what? In the name of the future. Thank you very much.
