The Mexican legislature approved a package of fresh duties on over 1.4 1000 products – including cars, clothing and household appliances – reaching as much as 50 percent. The decision, which will become effective on 1 January 2026, sparked a sharp reaction from China and fits into wider trade tensions between Mexico, Beijing and Washington.
