The American Court for global Trade blocked the entry into force of most of the duties announced by US president Donald Trump. According to the court, he exceeded his powers by imposing customs tariffs on another countries under the global Exceptional economical Rights Act.

A national court based in fresh York City on Wednesday local time stated that under the U.S. Constitution only legislature has the power to regulate trade with another states.

When announcing the duties, Trump cited the 1977 Act. However, the three-member panel of judges noted that it does not indicate tariffs as a tool by which the president can defend the US from economical threats.

Thus, the court agreed with a group of undertakings and a coalition of state officials who filed 2 separate lawsuits in this case.

Within minutes of the announcement of the court ruling, the Trump administration filed an appeal.(PAP)
