CJEU ruling on WIBOR in credit agreements. Will there be a historical breakthrough in the protection of the rights of złoty borrowers?

On 11 June 2025, the Court of Justice of the European Union will, for the first time in history, deal with the case of a Polish zloty loan, the interest rate of which is based on the WIBOR mention index. The case was registered under mention number C-471/24 and came to the Court as a consequence of preliminary questions submitted by the territory Court in Częstochowa. This is simply a breakthrough minute in the past of the Polish financial marketplace - comparable to the beginning of Swiss franc cases in the CJEU.
