Croatia will buy tanks, artillery and trucks with SAFE

The plan to modernise the Croatian army, whose backing is to come mainly from the SAFE programme, is worth about EUR 1.95 billion (Croatia received 1.7 billion under SAFE). It plans to get 44 Leopard 2A8 tanks for a full of about EUR 1.3 billion. Together with them, a spare parts package, training and 3 simulators will be obtained. Moreover, local companies, specified as Končar and Đuro Đaković, are to be active in the assembly and servicing of tanks and the production of components for them (with time the number of Croatian companies participating in this task is expected to grow).
