The fight against corruption continues
According to the Central Commission for the Control of Discipline of the Central Committee of the KPCh (chin. 中央纪律检查委员), the country's highest anti-corruption authority, in 2023 a evidence number of 45 highest officials (including ministers, deputy ministers, subsecretaries of state and those of key positions in crucial sectors) were released from their positions. This is the largest number of persons under anti-corruption investigation resulting in a deviation from the tasks and initiation of the prosecutor's investigation (Central Commission is an analogous body to the prosecution) since the start of the run against corruption launched in 2013. This is simply a 40% increase from 2022.
The rule of the Commission's action is that no 1 must feel impunity, no substance how advanced his position is in the organization or administrative hierarchy.
In the event of suspected corruption incriminating a associate of the NAP, the investigation shall be initiated by the Central Commission for the Control of Discipline of the Central Committee of the NAP, and after its completion the case and the file shall be forwarded to law enforcement (police, civilian prosecutors, courts). Last year's practice points to a fresh trend: investigators no longer adhere to the previously practiced unwritten rule that retired officials are outside the ellipse of inquiry. The Commission's investigations are so besides subject to cases of corruption before president Xi takes over. Retiring is no longer a way to avoid responsibility.
Corruption problems among KPC members have accumulated over the past 3 decades as a consequence of the fast economical improvement and the "loose" organization discipline. The interior and, in particular, the external situation in which China is located, makes efforts to mitigate the effects of human weaknesses intensified. The administration of president Xi does not intend to quit efforts to clear the Chinese authoritative apparatus of the weak and tempted people.
Since the start of the anti-corruption run (2013), positions have been dismissed and investigations have been carried out against 294 elder officials.
Recently, the Chinese defence minister Li Shangfu was among them. This is an extraordinary case in KPCh's history, which is considered an organization that avoids ambiguous situations. Meanwhile, Li was removed from the positions only six months after taking over the portfolio.

Scientists believe that the subsequent formal unionisation of young Chinese is due to an expanding period of learning, resulting in an increasingly later entry into the labour marketplace and, consequently, self-reliance, the anticipation of obtaining creditworthiness, for example. And a home in China is simply a prerequisite for marriage.
Young people in China are more independent of their parents' will than early generations, and the cost of surviving is increasing. These 2 factors make young people make rational choices – put off marrying for later...
