Euro MPs who have been in Beijing for the first time in 8 years called on the authorities of the PRC to halt the influx of dangerous goods into the EU and to improve access to the local marketplace for European companies," said the Reuter Agency today.

The EU legislators conveyed their concerns about "a large inflow of dangerous and non-compliant products originating in China" at a gathering with representatives of the Chinese marketplace regulation office. The talks besides afraid fair competition and the work of online trading platforms.

The problem concerns consignments of low value sent by e-commerce giants specified as Shein, Temu and AliExpress. The European Union is reforming customs rules to abolish work exemptions for parcels valued below EUR 150. According to authoritative estimates in 2025, 5.8 billion specified shipments were sent to the Community, of which over 90% from China. Negotiations were planned with the management of these platforms.

The nine-member delegation, who arrived in the PRC on Tuesday, is headed by Anna Cavazzini, Head of the Committee on the interior marketplace and Consumer Protection (IMCO).

The three-day mission is simply a step towards stableness of relations. This visit became possible after last year's decision by the Beijing authorities to abolish sanctions imposed in 2021 on EU politicians in retaliation for accusations of human rights violations in the Sinciang region.
