The Ministry of Education (chin. 教育部) reported the completion of the first phase of the task to defend Chinese language resources. The investigation was conducted at over 1,700 investigation points in 34 provinces and autonomous regions throughout the country (including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan), covering over 120 local languages and dialects.
Research has created the world's largest database of language resources.

The task involves building an integrated national digital investigation platform and an innovative language platform. The task is attended by 17 selected universities and investigation units, over 420 experts and scientists.
As part of these activities, the Ministry launched the National Platform of Language Resources Services (chin. 国家语言资源服务平台), where you can find information about Chinese characters, or an intelligent conversion strategy of Chinese characters both simple and traditional. The Database of the most celebrated Chinese Signs (chin. 中华精品字库工程) is besides established. After completion it will be a computer-based database of characters selected from the works of the 100 most crucial Chinese calligraphers in the past of the mediate State. This will combine calligraphy art with information technology and the usage of Chinese characters.
So far, 40 of these works have been developed.

The task is intended to preserve all languages and types of writing that happen in China and archive them in digital form. Among another things, the Language Expo website was launched in March with a mobile application within the National Educational Intelligence Platform (chin. 国家智能教育平台). The site contains 7 main sections (State of Language, improvement and Evolution, Classical Heritage, Bookstore of Language, survey Hall of Language, Language Intelligence and Thematic Exhibitions). There are besides 3 resource modules, namely Database, Audiovisual Museum and Interactive.
