China declares support for Poland in efforts to enter the G20

During talks between Polish and Chinese abroad ministers held in Helenów close Warsaw, the Polish side pointed to the destabilising activities of Russia and Belarus. MFA spokesperson, Łukasz Wroński, who provided information from the meeting, stressed that both parties had adopted joint arrangements. They support global governance based on global law standards and the United Nations Charter.

Poland at G20

According to PAP's information, citing diplomatic sources, China's abroad minister Wang Yi had a clear assurance of support for the Polish candidacy for the G20 during the talks with the deputy prime minister and head of the Polish MFA.

In a written answer to the question of whether Beijing actually made a declaration of support to Warsaw and how it intends to be implemented, the anonymous spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of abroad Affairs stressed that China is highly assessing the function and importance of Poland both in Europe and internationally.

Minister Wang visited Poland from 14 to 16 September. During this time he held a gathering with the head of the Polish MFA Radosław Sikorski during the 4th session of the Polish-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee, and besides spoke with the president of Poland Karol Nawrocki. Before visiting Warsaw, the Chinese abroad Minister visited Austria and Slovenia.

The G20 Group is simply a forum for intergovernmental cooperation, comprising the world's 19 largest economies together with the European Union and the African Union. Its main task is to coordinate economical and financial policies at global level. G20 countries account for about 85% of global GDP, 75% of global trade and 2 thirds of the world's population.

Membership in the group offers the chance to participate actively in the decision-making of the global economy, increases the importance of the country internationally and opens the way for closer economical cooperation with key partners. Among the most crucial G20 countries are the United States, China, Japan, India, large Britain, France and Brazil.
