Gdańsk faces problems in public transport after the closure of the Siennicki Bridge. The work on the installation of the overpass at the “Deep” tram halt is extended due to technological problems. As a result, passengers utilizing tram lines 8 and 9 and substitute buses must face delays and changes in routes.
Trams on shorter routes and interchange chaos
Tram lines 8 and 9, which usually supply a key connection between Stogs and the city centre, now complete their courses at the SKM downtown stop. There, passengers gotta control to replacement buses, causing additional difficulties, especially during rush hours.
Two shuttle trams run in the Podwale Przedmieściej, between the stops "Okopowa" and "Brama Żuławska". Although this was intended to improve traffic, many passengers complain of difficulties in adapting to the fresh organization.
Extended way of replacement buses
The Municipal Transportation Board decided to extend the way of the replacement bus line so that passengers could scope their designated seats more efficiently. However, additional travel time and the request to change make travellers complain about the deficiency of comfort and overcrowded vehicles.
The work at the Deep Station was to be completed at night, as the Gdańsk authorities provided on Wednesday 8 January during a gathering with residents. However, technological problems caused the installation of the overlay way to continue.
Despite the presence of ZTM and GAiT services on site, there is no circumstantial information erstwhile the situation will be resolved.
