At least 10 people were injured on Wednesday on the island of Oleron in the west of France, where a man driving a car deliberately rode on the road in pedestrians and cyclists. 35-year-old offender is known for erstwhile offences and drug use," reported the paper "Le Figaro".
On Wednesday morning, respective road accidents occurred between the towns of Dolus-d’Oleron and Saint-Pierre-d’Oleron. The police have determined that the perpetrator is simply a single-car driver. It is simply a resident of the village of Cotinière, 4 km from Saint-Pierre-d’Oleron on the island of Oleron.
The prosecution in La Rochelle confirmed that the man's actions were deliberate. She besides stated that the perpetrator utilized the words ‘Allah Akbar’ at the time of detention and that the taser had to be applied to him erstwhile detained. The motive of the perpetrator has not yet been established – the prosecution added.
At this stage, the anti-terrorism prosecutor's office is not involved. An investigation was initiated into the attempted murder.
Mer Saint-Pierre-d’Oleron Christophe Sueur said that the perpetrator is known to the gendarmerie due to behaviors that deviate from the norm and alcohol problems. “Le Figaro” reported that a man tried to set his car on fire before stopping.
